Hubert C. Covington, 88, of Gainesville died Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Bell-Minor Nursing Home.
Born in Enterprise, Alabama, Mr. Covington had lived in Hall County for over 40 years. He was the son of the late James Frank and Mamie Hartzog Covington. He had served in the U.S. Navy/ Seabees during World War II and was retired from Andover Companies as an insurance salesman. He was a member of Clairmont Baptist Church in Decatur. Mr. Covington was preceded in death by his sons, James T. Covington, Sr. and Hubert Terrell Covington.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Covington, Gainesville; grandson, Jay Covington, McDonough; granddaughter, Heather Boyter, Murfreesboro, Tennesse; five great-grandchildren; James T. Covington, III, Kalie Boyter, Gracie Boyter, Gabrielle Covington and Brhea Covington.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 in the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Covington's grandson, Jay Covington will officiate. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Habitat for Humanity/ Hall County Chapter in memory of Mr. Covington.
